The original characters, when the idea of a series of books was first muted, even before they were called Foxwood Tales, was a baby Hedgehog and a gruff old Badger but as we couln't have a baby Hedgegog wandering about in the countryside all on his own then he had to have some companions and so Harvey Mouse and Rue Rabbit were introduced as Willy Hedgehog's inseparable friends completing the trio as we know them today.

But then of course Willy Hedgehog had to have a Mum ~ and a Dad too ~ and before long we are introduced to his Grandpa and Grandma, his friend Captain Otter,  Mr Gruffey the Badger, the Squire of the village and his Butler

and little Jeremy the orphaned baby badger now a firm favourite who makes up the fourth member of the

three musketeers so to speak and where would these guys be without Rosie Rabbit, and Katie Rabbit.

Of course Harvey Mouse and Rue Rabbit also had parents and they too had friends and relatives.

In fact Foxwood grew to have a whole village of characters, such as Uncle Henry the Hare and mad inventor

and if a story demands it there will always be room for others to take to the stage when called upon.
